Three years after the revolution, Tunisian parties came together a week ago to approve the new constitution after a period of political, economic, security and social struggle and instability.

With the beginning of the new government business, the Indian Foreign Affairs minister Salman Khurshid planned a visit to Tunisia that will last two days, starting from today 2nd February 2014.

Mr Khurshid’s visit is considered the first in the history of relations between India and Tunisia .

During his stay, the Indian Minister will be the guest of the interim Tunisian president of the republic, Moncef Marzouki, prime minister Mehdi Jomaa and Khurshid’s counterpart Mongi Hamdi.

According to “attounissia.com”, such a meeting is likely to pave the way to strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries and give a new impetus to both economic and trade cooperations, especially in promising areas such as renewable energy and communication technology as well as an exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest.

It should be noted that India is Tunisia’s first partner in chemical fertilizers, especially after initiating the Tunisian-Indian unit for the production of phosphoric acid at Skhira in Tunisia last July. The value of trade exchanges between the two countries has reached nearly 650 million dinars.

On the other hand, “roayah news” professes that a set of kings, princes and heads of states and governments of neighboring friendly countries,  will be in Tunisia on February 7, so as to be part of the solemn procession which will take place on the occasion of the ratification of the new Tunisian Constitution.
